Why Changes are Needed...

very crowded hallway
There just isn't enough
space anywhere!

reference section in with general section on a high shelf
Due to the lack of space, the reference collection is now co-located with the  general collection.

current young adult section
The current "Young Adult" area.
Not an engaging or enticing space to encourage our youth to love and use the library.

a tangle of wires
The staff has done a wonderful job of "making do," but significant updates in infrastructure and additional space are greatly needed.

bookshelf held together with rods
These shelves are bulky and due to earthquake requirements, have huge bolts locking them to the walls - nearly impossible to adjust.

narrow doors
These are VERY narrow doors.  There isn't
a single ADA accessible rest room in the building.

steep stairs - the only entrance to the basement meeting room
A steep stairway is the only entrance to the basement meeting room. With no ADA access most meetings must take place on the main floor.

Imagine a space large enough to hold events without practically shutting down the whole library.

We can do it with your help!

not a good display case
We've been "making do" long enough.
Let's make some changes and update
the library we all love so we can continue
to use if for years to come.
very old table with torn seat
Wouldn't it be great to turn this caterpillar of a library into a fabulous butterfly?
side of the current building
It is time to give our library a facelift.
With the expansion, this wall would be slightly bumped out and glassed in to provide more space and a view.
front of building with its unique roof and basalt wall
With its hyperbolic-parabaloid roof it is one of the most unique and recognizable buildings in the area. We can maintain the library's look and still do what needs to be done.

These people saw the need back in 1964.

Now it is time for us to step up and make sure our public library can meet
our community's needs now, for the next generation, and beyond.
